Chicken Karahi Recipeππ₯
For the Chicken:
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces π
- 1/2 cup cooking oil or ghee π₯
- 2 large onions, finely sliced π§
- 3-4 tomatoes, chopped π
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste π§
- 2-3 green chilies, slit πΆοΈ
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds π±
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder πΎ
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder π
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste) π₯
- Salt, to taste π§
- 1 teaspoon garam masala πΆοΈ
- Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish πΏ
- Lemon wedges, for serving π
Step 1: Heat the Oil π³
- In a large karahi or wok, heat the oil or ghee over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and sautΓ© until golden brown. π§ β¨
Step 2: Add Chicken and Spices π
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. SautΓ© for a minute.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides. π₯
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes, cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well. π
Step 3: Cook the Chicken π
- Cover the karahi and let the chicken cook on low heat until tender (about 20-30 minutes). Stir occasionally.
- If needed, add a little water to prevent sticking. π§

- Once the chicken is cooked and the oil has separated, sprinkle garam masala over the top and mix well.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
